It was another action packed and exciting week around the Majors this week. Players are beginning to turn up the heat as teams begin the final push for the playoffs.
NL Hitter of the Week
Carlos Gonzalez- Gonzalez came through when his team needed him the most. The Rockies were coming off one of the worst road trips in team history, Cargo took the team on his back and hit .533 this past week, hit 4 home runs, and he also drove in 7 runs, scored 10 runs and had 2 stolen bases. This also included a walk off home-run to complete his cycle, which is only the 5th time that has happened in Major League history. His average continues to rise and his power numbers are also creeping up. Look out for this guy during the rest of the season.
Honorable Mention
David Wright- Wright hit .444 this week with 2 home runs and 9 runs batted in.
NL Pitcher of the Week
Ricky Nolasco- Nolasco had 2 starts for the Marlins this week and won them both. He had a 2.45 ERA and struck out 14 batters. In his 14 2/3 innings he only allowed 9 hits and walked 2 batters. With Josh Johnson Struggling this week, Nolasco was able to pick up the slack and get a couple of victories for the Marlins.
Honorable Mention
Wandy Rodriguez- Rodriguez had one start this week and went 8 innings and struck out 9 batters on his way to his 9th victory of the season.
AL Hitter of the Week
Jose Bautista- What a week for Jose Bautista. This past week he hit .545 with 5 homeruns, 13 RBI’s and scored 8 times. Bautista is having a career year this year as his Major League leading home run total was pushed to 31. He has been consistently strong all season long even though his average is sitting at .260.

AL Pitcher of the Week
Matt Garza- Garza threw the 5th no hitter of the year this past week and only walked one batter during the game. He had another strong start this week going 7 innings and giving up 4 runs. Garza had a 2.25 ERA for the week to go with 15 strikeouts and only 2 walks. It is truly the year of the pitcher, with 2 months still left to go in the season, I would be surprised if this was the last no hitter we see this year.
